GROMS AND FAMILIES INFO

First comp finalists for 2023, Asher, Harry, Hendrix, Zeke and Oscar.

BY MEEGAN STEPHENS, GROMS COORDINATOR 2023

Welcome to all the wonderful new faces and our returning families!

What an awesome weekend we had last weekend. LHB doesn’t get more “grom friendly”.

Our grom days run the same day as the junior, opens and seniors for convenience. However we have had days where we felt it was best to cancel the Groms or move them to a different location For safety and maximum fun. If this ever occurs you will be notified on social media and via email.

All the girls, micro & Groms will get 2 heats each so they used to the format of comp surfing. While it is comp surfing, we are all here to have a great day, encourage and learn from each other and to have FUN!

We encourage all existing and new families to get involved and help out on comp days! Help with set up, judging, rashies, pack down is always appreciated!

There will be a final for each division if we have time and the conditions are still the same. I am sure myself or Scott explained the basics at the first comp, however here is a recap for you all:

• Surf between the allocated flag area on your designated bank

• Red Flag - No surfing

• Yellow Flag - 5 mins to go

• Note - at the 5 minute you can paddle out ready for your heat to start. DO NOT surf until your heat starts.

• Green Flag - Heat is on!

• Please no free surfing in designated banks. Heat surfers always get priority, find another bank on the beach if you are not in your heat.

• Judging can be difficult to scale so please remember all of our judges are parents and doing their best! Be kind, always!

Whenever and wherever possible please consider the environment on the day. BYO keep cups, pack responsible and healthy snacks and lunches and always be conscious of your waste and where it will end up.

Is you have any questions are queries please don’t hesitate to reach out!
